The drama curriculum is designed to allow each student to discover his or her own talents and build self-confidence during various activities in class. Students will explore the possibilities of theatre. No past experience is need for this class. STUDENTS WILL……
*Train their voice, body, and mind, to clearly express character and ideas.
*Analyze theories, styles, and methods of performance in theatre, film, and television.
*Read and write scripts to understand, express, and appreciate the ideas.
*Develop the basic terminology used in all areas of theatre production.
*Study the history of theatre and the effects of culture and ethnic diversity.
*Collaborate to express and communicate themselves in theatrical performances. Emphasis will be given in this area.
COURSE OUTLINE
Time is divided into three units. A portion of class, students will work on content learning and rehearsal. The final minutes will be devoted to warm-ups and activities. Timing is flexible according to the needs of the class.
Students are given 5 participation points per class day without rehearsal. Points are deducted by threes for non-productive behavior. Students are given ten points per rehearsal day. Points are deducted by fives for non-productive behavior. ALL students participate in drama.
POLICIES
Late Work – Late work will be allowed for excused absences according to handbook policy. Any zeros or unexcused absence missed work will be allowed within two weeks of the assignment. A 10% reduction will take place for each day. Any partner performances must be made up within two class periods.
Attendance – Attendance is important to earn participation points. Many activities are group oriented and are difficult to make up.
Supplies – All students are required to have a notebook with pockets and a writing device.
All other issues that may arise within the classroom will follow handbook policies.
